Robert E. Cashman, MD .

I was born and grew up in Ardmore, Oklahoma, a town in southern Oklahoma. For undergraduate I attended UCLA, and for medical school I attended the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. My initial internship was in general surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Next I began a neurosurgery residency at Duke, but quickly found out neurosurgery was not my calling. Subsequently, I returned to the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine to complete a residency in anatomic pathology, a fellowship in surgical pathology, and a fellowship in dermatopathology. The strong emphasis on clinical-pathologic correlation in dermatopathology is why I prefer dermatopathology to other disciplines in anatomic pathology.

After fellowship I joined the Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico as an anatomic pathologist and dermatopathologist. I practiced there for six years. Next I practiced with Dr. Clay Cockerell in Dallas, Texas. In late 2006, after Dr. Cohen sold her practice to Ameripath, I began covering for her in Tucson. In September of 2007, I joined Cohen Dermatopathology full time.

Outside of work my two passions are motorcycles and airplanes. I currently enjoy sport bikes, and have also started off-road riding.

Flying is like a second profession to me, although I pay to fly. Currently I hold an airline transport certificate with type ratings in the Boeing 737, the Boeing 757/767, the Citation 500 and 650, the Learjet, and the Dassault Falcon 50. Recently I flew the Falcon 50 to a dermatopathology course in Hawaii.
